Engle is also excited to reveal the next radio single will be the upbeat “Lonesome Lesson Learned.” Penned alongside Justin Carbone, it’s the follow-up to Engle’s first-ever No. 1 hit, “Never Too Lost,” which topped the Bluegrass Today Gospel Weekly Airplay Chart over the summer. Engle’s fans and Bluegrass enthusiasts alike will find much to love in this new release, which captures the heart and soul of traditional Bluegrass music.

On Back Home, Engle takes full creative control, performing every instrument heard on the album, including acoustic guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle, upright bass, resophonic guitar, resophonic pedal steel, strings, baritone guitar, and drums/percussion. In addition to playing every instrument, he also produced the album and sang all vocals, showcasing his extraordinary musical prowess. He also teamed with some of the top songwriters including Bill Whyte, Rick Lang, Alan Bibey, Justin Carbone and previous Southern Skies member Jenny Lynn Pickel, writing or co-writing all 12 songs on the album.

Standout tracks on Back Home include the down-home anthem and title track, which captures the essence of returning to one’s roots with its spirited melodies and heartfelt lyrics. Another highlight is the nostalgic “Boy I Used to Be,” a reflective tune that takes listeners on a journey through memories of the past, filled with a sense of longing and introspection. Adding to the album’s depth is the Gospel tune “The Praying Kind,” co-written by Engle and Alan Bibey, which showcases Engle’s spiritual side and his ability to convey profound emotion through his music. These tracks, among others, make Back Home a well-rounded and emotionally resonant Bluegrass album.

Troy Engle’s journey through Bluegrass has been shaped by years of experience and a deep passion for the genre, blending classic Bluegrass sounds with his unique storytelling. A Pennsylvania native and seasoned musician, Engle has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in Bluegrass and Country, including Patty Loveless, The Isaacs, Larry Sparks, Buddy Jewell, and Leon Russell.
